What is Victory Church?

Victory Church was founded in 2016 after the congregations of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and Church of Joy Chula Vista voted to merge into a single church body. The reason for and goal of our merger was to create a special place in our community of South Bay San Diego that would provide a center of worship and outreach into a world that is in desperate need of Christ.

Over the next few years, continued development of the building facilities on our 8.5 acre property will allow us to expand not only the physical space in which we worship, but also the size of our church family with whom we worship. We hope you will consider coming to join us on Sunday!

What do we believe?

Victory Church is a part of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. The most important part of being a Lutheran is being a Christian first. This means our beliefs are centered around Jesus Christ and the triune God; consisting of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ came to earth and was crucified and died for our sins. And through the Grace that was given to us in Christ, we have salvation in heaven.

As Lutherans, our traditions are built upon the teachings of Martin Luther, whose whole life pointed to the fact that Jesus Christ died and rose for our sins. At the heart of Lutheranism are three great theological themes that grew out of the 16th century Reformation led by Martin Luther.

Grace Alone

We are saved, not because of the good things we do, but solely because of God’s undeserved love and mercy for us in His son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died in our place for our sins and rose from the dead to give us life.

Faith Alone

We cannot earn God’s love by what we do; we can only receive His grace through faith, which trusts in the promises of God and cling for hope and comfort to the cross of Jesus Christ.

Scripture Alone

The Bible is the only source and standard for Christian life and teaching. We find out who God is, what He has done for us, what He promises us, and what He expects us to do in the Bible, all of which is God’s inspired and truthful Word to us.

What does this mean to me?

Victory Church is a place of love and acceptance. No matter your walk of life, no matter your past transgressions, no matter who you are or where you are from, you are welcome here. More importantly, you are welcome in the family of God. He longs for a relationship with each and every one of us. Victory Church is simply a vessel for a closer connection with God. We hope that you will consider coming to visit sometime soon!

What is Victory Christian Academy?

Victory Christian Academy was founded in 2016 after the member boards of Pilgrim Lutheran School (Pre/K-8 th grade) and Lutheran High School of San Diego (9th -12th grades) voted to merge into a single academic body. Together they will occupy a newly developed, state-of- the-art 8.5-acre campus stretching from H Street to Discovery Park. The reason for and goal of our merger is to create an educational environment that is wholly rooted in Christ while also providing a source of educational excellence beginning in preschool and continuing all the way through high school. While both of these educational centers have been operating successfully for more than 40 years, combining the two allows us to create a special place where spiritual growth happens hand-in-hand with academic growth from the earliest ages of education, all the way through the years of collegiate preparation.

As a part of this merge, the facilities in which we teach our students will grow significantly. Over the next few years, we will be expanding our facilities to include everything from a full-size football stadium to new classrooms and educational facilities.

What do we offer?

Victory Christian Academy is a faith-based private school that takes pride in its academic excellence, affordability and personalized education for children in preschool through twelfth grade. While the public-school system increasingly focuses on standardized test scores, Victory focuses on the holistic development of intelligence, critical thinking, spirituality, and self-worth. We strive to create not only good students but also good people who are leaders with strong moral compasses.

For more than 40 years, Victory’s high school (formerly Lutheran High School of San Diego) has placed its graduates in premier colleges and universities across the country and abroad. A small investment in a bright future, Victory’s tuition is less than half of the average private-school tuition in California, and financial aid is available. We strive to never allow cost to prevent a student from joining us. At all grade levels, Victory students score well above local averages on standardized tests. Our primary education (grades K through 8) focus on building a solid foundation of well-rounded knowledge, and our curriculum includes technology, music, languages, athletics and arts. Our high school focuses on college preparation, with Accelerated and AP classes offered in many subjects. Students have community-service requirements and are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities including music, drama, CIF athletics and more. And in our increasingly high-tech world, Victory Christian Academy stands alone in offering the opportunity to participate in a unique, student-led IT consulting business called ServiTech. Here, students learn entrepreneurialism and work ethic, earning class credits while learning and providing cutting-edge IT services to real-world clients ranging from other schools to a Fortune 500 company.
