LCMS Disaster Relief has released the following update regarding Hurricane Harvey:
At least 161 LCMS congregations are in the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey and the floods. The Synod stands with those in need through prayer and support.
“For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all” (2 COR. 5:14). The love of Christ compels us to love everyone. Love flows from the cross in service to those in need, just as Christ came in the flesh to save.
You can help those suffering from the effects of the storm and the floodwaters. LCMS World Relief and Human Care, through Disaster Response, is working with the Texas District to support relief efforts and to aid those in need.

HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF – Your donations in this week’s offering specified to “Harvey” will help our brothers and sisters recover. All funds collected will be sent to the District Office earmarked for hurricane relief and 100% of the funds will be sent to the Texas and Southern Districts. LCMS World Relief and Human Care is launching a major response to Harvey. Your continued prayers and donations to the relief efforts are needed. In addition, you can volunteer to help with the relief efforts. Go to lcms.org/Harvey for more information.
PRAYER QUILTS SENT TO COMFORT TEXAS – Victory member and quilt ministry leader Kim Coronado mailed two boxes of prayer quilts to Galilean Lutheran Church of Corpus Christi this week. This church was not directly impacted by the flooding (although their pastor’s home was), and they were “delighted to accept prayer quilts to distribute” to those in need. Thank you, Kim, for this quick and thoughtful response.
For any questions on how you can help, please feel free to contact the church office.
