Daily Devotional Series from Victory Church
Thanksliving Day 1
If someone were to rescue you from a perilous situation, what would your reaction be? To walk away with nary a glance back, or to shower them with thanks and praise for their kindness towards you? Most likely, it would be to thank them profusely.
Looking closely at Psalm 107, we can see four different testimonies or illustrations of those who have been redeemed by the Lord and have reason to give Him thanks. In each case, it follows a similar progression: (note verses 4-9, 10-16, 17-22 and 23-32)
- Acknowledging their distress
- Sending a desperate cry to the Lord for help
- Receiving divine deliverance
The reply of the redeemed is the same: “Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind.”
How often do you consciously thank the Lord for His mercy and His wonderful deeds in your life? Speaking for myself, not often enough!
In the words of our verses for today “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so”… tell someone today how grateful you are for what the Lord has done for you. Let them know what the grace of God means to you.
Psalm 107: 1-2 English Standard Version (ESV)
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom he has redeemed from trouble.”
