Thanksliving Day 30
It would be easy to share this writing today and then go about my daily business as if nothing had changed over the last 30 days. But such is not the case because things have changed. Spending time reading the Word and sharing my thoughts and reflections this past month has been a wonderful experience for me.
On November 1st, I shared that I would rate my gratitude level between a feeling greatly blessed and knowing that I had a long way to do to develop a lifestyle of giving thanks. Along the way, as I spent time each day sharing my thoughts, the Lord chipped away at my heart and my ungrateful spirit. This journey became more than taking a few moments of my day to type some words and share them on the website… the Lord used that time to open my eyes to all that I have been blessed with… both big and small.
Now what??? “Thanks-living” does not end today just because it is the end of November and tomorrow we flip the calendar to a new month. It is a lifestyle to be lived out on a daily basis. I will never reach perfection in my attitude of gratitude, but I have made it my goal to be more deliberate in my actions related to sharing thanks… to the Lord and to others. In reading our passage for today, we see what fruit a godly life will bear and I believe that life begins with thanksgiving and gratitude.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. – Galatians 5:16-24 New International Version (NIV)
