Daily Devotional Series from Victory Church
Thanksliving Day 24
In spite of all the trials that the apostle Paul endured, he was a very grateful person. This is evidenced by the writings in his epistles… he began many of his letters by thanking those to whom he was writing ( see 1 Corinthians 1:4, Philippians 1: 3-4, Colossians 1: 3-4) It was important to him to thank those who had been a part of his ministry.
He prayed for those people and he thanked God for the blessings that had been bestowed on them. Romans 16: 1-6 contains a lengthy list of the people who Paul felt compelled to thank. If you read this passage you will not that none of them were well-known people… none of them had attained the notoriety that Paul had, but yet were important to him. No matter how small an impact they had on him, he was grateful for their contribution to his life.
As much as those people mattered to Paul, how much more important they are to God. And thus, they should matter to us as well. We just observed Pastor Appreciation Sunday and honored Pastor Tim for what he does as our shepherd and our leader. This was a nice gesture to recognize him on that particular day, but what about the other 364 days of the year? Do we think about him, pray for him and thank him for his service? We should!
Who in your life are you grateful for? Who has contributed to your life in such a way that inspires you to say thank you?

“That is why, ever since I heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and of the love you have for Christians everywhere, I have never stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you wisdom to see clearly and really understand who Christ is and all that he has done for you.” – Ephesians 1:15-17 Living Bible (TLB)
