5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

TRUST: Day 1
My husband, Wayne, is visually impaired and considered legally blind. During the day, he is able to get around pretty easily but when darkness falls, he finds it more difficult to find his way. When we are out and about at night, he depends on me to inform him of obstacles or hazards he may encounter, such as curbs or stairs etc.
If I were a complete stranger to Wayne, I suspect he would find it more difficult to put his safety into my hands. A stranger would not know to tell him that there was a bump in the sidewalk or a set of stairs that he will need to navigate. Because of our relationship, he trusts that I will keep him safe and on the right path.
Isn’t this the way it should be when we walk with the Lord? The verse for today tells us that if we submit to Him, He will make our paths straight. The key is having a relationship so that He is not a stranger but someone we know and feel comfortable putting our trust in. That does not mean there will not be obstacles along the way, but He will walk alongside us to help us navigate around those bumps in the road.
