Living In The Moment
Daily Devotional Series - Day 40
Reading: Ecclesiastes 12:9-14 ; Luke 24:1-8
I remember being 3-4 years old and standing on the edge of the high’s pool starting blocks with my dad out in front of me. I was an “Auqatot.” At the end of each lesson, we did the same thing. Me on the blocks facing my fears asking my dad, “Have I already jumped that far?” My dad would always lie, “Yes”, already knowing that I could do more than I gave myself credit for. I would jump and safely land in my dad’s arms. Every time. I was so happy with him and myself.
The Saturday after Good Friday is always a quiet day. A day to process and contemplate what happened the day before. So what happened? He died. He died for my sin. He died to take my death. He died that I may have a new lease on life. We already know what happens tomorrow. It happened a long time ago. For so long we have lived under the shadow of death. Jesus’ resurrection means that death now resides under the shadow of LIFE! We’ve seen what a life like with God looks like. Despite our fears, HE has secured our future. We’ve been given instruction. Fear God and do what He tells you! It’s time to JUMP! The flight deck is clear for take off! Get up to the plate and take a swing! You will never know what God has in store until you come out of the grave!
13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 (NIV)
