Living In The Moment
Daily Devotional Series - Day 25
Reading: Ecclesiastes 7:1-6
By now you’ve figured out that most of the words in Ecclesiastes are able to help us find the dark cloud for each silver lining, that is until you really think about it and digest it. This day is no different as you can tell by the “key verse.” Seeing how life really is helps us to hold onto the things that last.
Bernie, a member of my dad’s church, lived to the ripe age of 98. Getting there was not easy for him as the last years were defined by a series of medical problems. An elder of the church asked him for some wisdom through the lens of his 98 years. Bernie’s responded, “If you have a chance to die at 75, take it.”
Those words can be jarring but in them is an admission that life on this earth is a struggle and that death is a release to life in heaven for those who walk with Jesus. Walking with Him makes everything better. In the meantime, knowing your future is secure, enjoy your wife, kids, and work.
“The day of death is better than the day of birth.”
