Living In The Moment

Daily Devotional Series - Day 10

Reading: Ecclesiastes 3:18-22

Take a moment and finish this statement, “I would never have predicted…”

You may have had a few things to choose from. My head went to sports. The Miracle on Ice. On February 21, 1980, no one predicted that the USA hockey team would beat the vaunted USSR Red Army, the defending gold medal champions, and champions of five of the last six Olympics. Even in the locker room, they had laid out a plan that would give them a chance. The next day, the final score was 4-3, USA and prompted announcer, Al Michaels to utter the famous phrase, “Do you believe in miracles?! Yes!”

Your answer may have been something exciting or sad but when we look at the reality of life, we could say, “I would never have predicted…” at the end of every day. No one can predict the future with absolute certainty. You may set your alarm for 6:30 am but even then a friend butt dials you at 5 am. BUT if we are that special to God, why do we need to know the future? Live the life that is in front of you! God has his plan. More on that in future…

Key Scripture

“So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?”

Ecclesiastes 3:22

Today’s Prayer

Dear God, you are the only one who knows the future. Help us not to worry. In those moments remind us who we are as your children. We are created. We are redeemed. We are loved. We are are yours. Help us to live in the moment. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
