Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” John 6:35 (ESV)

Grace & Truth Day 6
Reading: John 6
At the exact moment I am writing this, I am hungry. If someone were to walk into my office with a partially eaten sandwich, a slice of half-frozen old pizza, leftover anything, they would be my hero. I would crown them king or queen.
As the dad of three boys, the best insight I have ever received is that if they are cranky they are either tired or hungry. That has been true 90% of the time. Take care of those things and you are golden. Now for girls? The same person, a girl herself, had no answers. When our stomachs are full we feel so much better.
After the feeding of the 5000, the people wanted to make Jesus king. He refused. He wants to do more than just fill our stomachs. He has the ability to fill our lives! He has the ability to cure the inner cravings of our lives that, if left unsatisfied, can lead you on a bad path. He gives purpose. He gives a reason for being. He loves.
Some people who don’t know God, think that our relationship is built on him taking stuff from us and if we don’t comply, he punishes us. That is so not true! He is the bread of life given freely to us! He satisfies. Like the feeding of the 5000, he gives us so much that we have our fill that we have to share, and there are STILL leftovers.
