“Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” “What is truth?” Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.” John 18:37-38

Noun. keyboard warrior (plural keyboard warriors) (informal, pejorative) A person who behaves aggressively and/or in an inflammatory manner in online text-based discussion media, but at the same time does not behave similarly in real life, potentially due to cowardice, introversion or shyness. – https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/keyboard_warrior
My heart breaks when I read the passages about Jesus’ trial and crucifixion. I don’t just shake my head at how he was treated. They had no legitimate charges. When they brought him to Pilate, Pilate was flummoxed. “What are the charges?” The best answer the Jewish leaders had was, “If he weren’t a criminal, we wouldn’t have brought him to you.” Basically, a childish, “Because.”
What causes my heartache, is I can see this happening so easily today. The true spirit of humanity is revealed. Imagine if this happened in the world of social media? It would have happened faster! Pilate is playing politics. The Jews are manipulating him and others to protect their way of life. They thought Jesus and his movement was going to ruin what little they had.
Early on in John 3, Jesus says, “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”
Do you live in the light? Or do you hide in the darkness, twisting things to your benefit? What would people say about you 100 years from now? How would you be judged?
