“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Grace & Truth Day 1
Reading: John 1
A few weeks ago we were given the challenge to take a New Testament, read the Gospel of John, and pass it onto someone who needed it, whomever God puts in your way. How is it going? For some of you, it was easy. For some, it was/is difficult but you’re working on it. For some, the Bible is still in the trunk of the car. That’s okay. Kind of.
Our mission statement reads: “By the Power of the Holy Spirit, Victory transforms people with the Grace and Truth of Jesus Christ, one child, one person, one family, one community at a time.” I think it looks great on paper. For it to come alive, we must first be transformed by the Grace and Truth of Jesus.
When John talks about Grace and Truth it’s in the sense of coming into contact with an unreal, awe-inspiring mixture of all-consuming love (grace) that transforms people into what they were intended to be (truth) as children of God. Too often, people’s experience of Jesus has been judgment and rules.
Over the next few weeks, we’re going to read a chapter a day of John. Grace and Truth provide the framework for the rest of John’s Gospel as he invites us to experience the glory of God. To see what he has seen. To share what he shares.
