1 Timothy 6:17-19 Living Bible (TLB)
17 Tell those who are rich not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which will soon be gone, but their pride and trust should be in the living God who always richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give happily to those in need, always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them. 19 By doing this they will be storing up real treasure for themselves in heaven—it is the only safe investment for eternity! And they will be living a fruitful Christian life down here as well.

Craving God: Day 4
It seems as though every week we hear of another brick and mortar store closing its doors. I walked through a mall just the other day and saw several shops that were shuttered, and I met very few people walking with me. Gone are the days of bustling crowds looking for just the right bargain.
But, if you go online you can find just what you are looking for. I shop a lot at Amazon as I have a Kindle e-reader and I order my books from that site. Amazon, as well as other retailers, has made it even easier for us frequent online shoppers by storing our credit card information and all we have to do is click and the item is ours. We can shop at any time of day or night without even leaving the comfort of our home. One-click shopping has replaced standing in line at a check-out counter.
I suspect you are wondering how this relates to craving God. It has to do with wants vs. needs. Those ads that pop up on your Facebook page or those emails telling you of a 50% OFF TODAY ONLINE ONLY sale are just too tempting to pass up. I mean 50% off… who would not check that out??? All of a sudden you are “craving” that new shirt or a pair of shoes or that grill you did not know you needed and all you have to do is click and it is yours. It has become too easy to mistake a momentary want for a real need.
Those ads reach out to us and entice into buying something that we really may not even want. The passage above tells us to trust in the living God who gives us all we need for our enjoyment. We don’t need to go online to find it… we just need to look to Him for our real treasure.
