I was called to Lutheran High School of San Diego/ Victory in the summer of 2007 and we have been earnestly working on a permanent solution to our campus needs. Over the years we have encountered significant challenges with biological, financial and timing hurdles with the city of Chula Vista. Since our merger with Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School and Church of Joy, we have seen mightily God’s hand on display. It is amazing the path he has taken us on over these last two years.
Since March we have been working hand in hand with a lender who has seen the long-term vision of Victory and our plan seamlessly blends well with their call to help congregations and schools reach their potential goals for construction. On Wednesday, May 9th our ministry was given the well-timed and amazing news that our loan has been approved to build our campus. Many of you are familiar with Thrivent Financial. Thrivent is a company who works with Lutherans and Christians around the world with their investment and Life Insurance needs. In addition to those offerings, Thrivent also has a credit union. Thrivent Credit Union has agreed to loan us what we need to get started once our property closes escrow in August. The loan amount of 5.5 million has been granted to us as well as another 5.5 million from the sale of the property. All these dollars will be needed to build our multi-purpose gymnasium, modular classrooms and the elementary transition to the east campus and athletic field.
As you can imagine, this has been a huge thrill for our ministry especially after an 11 -year wait. Now, with all this being said, we still need your support with gifts and prayers. Our hope and desire is to grow this ministry Preschool-12th grade as well as growing our church. The Lord has blessed us with an amazing task to reach into this community of Chula Vista and be a beacon of light for people needing to hear about the Grace and Love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Please join me in a prayer of Thanksgiving as we prepare for groundbreaking in the late summer of 2018. Stay tuned for further details about our groundbreaking ceremony.
